International midwives' day 2016

May the 5th is International Midwives Day. So this is an opportunity for the Sanofi Espoir Foundation to celebrate one of the finest professions in the world and communicate its commitment to these exemplary women who help reduce maternal and neonatal mortality, particularly in developing countries.

Midwives for Life Awards, the 2016 winners!

For the third consecutive year, the Sanofi Espoir Foundation and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) are rewarding until ten projects run by midwives focused on reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in developing countries.

Among the 73 projects received this year, the selection committee of French and African midwives, public health experts and gynecology and obstetrics specialists, have selected eight projects from 8 countries, located in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Through her association, each midwife will receive €5,000 in aid to carry out her project. The jury was based on selection criteria that included the innovative nature of the initiative, its benefit to the communities, boosting local capacity, and the ability to replicate the project in other regions.

"Midwives for Life" is a program set up by the Sanofi Espoir Foundation to fight maternal and neonatal mortality by improving training and support for midwives in developing countries.
