As part of the Season of Solidarity organized annually on Sanofi sites, the Sanofi Espoir Foundation offered employees based in the Paris area three volunteer activities with two of the Foundation’s partner associations.

Improving access to care for refugee populations in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Many regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are plagued by unrest and violence fueled by ethnic and territorial conflicts. According to the United Nations, the country now has 3.9 million internal displaced persons and 530,000 refugees fleeing violence in neighboring countries.

Support for first-line aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

The Rohingya, a stateless Muslim minority in Myanmar, are a victim of violent repression by the Burmese army. On October 24, 2017, the UN estimated that 604,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh since August 25, 2017, or about 16,000 new arrivals every day.

Support for women and children in camps in the north of France

Despite the displacement of migrants, following the dismantling of the camps in late 2016 and the Great Synthe fire in early April 2017, the number of people in the region is estimated at 2,300 people including 300 women and children, living in the jungles or in the wild, without a fixed camp.
